Bio-Inspired Soft Robotic Rover
If you want to explore an alien ocean, wheels won’t get you very far, but a rover that moves like an eel might. That’s why a team at Cornell University is designing a bio-inspired soft robotic rover that could one day explore the ocean on Jupiter’s icy moon Europa.
NASA 360 joins Dr. Mason Peck of Cornell University as he discusses his NASA Innovative Advanced Concept (NIAC) for soft-robotic rovers with electrodynamic power scavenging.
This video was developed from a live recording at the 2015 NIAC Fall Symposium in October, 2015. To watch the full original talk please visit: http://bit.ly/1GGh5r8

The superpower of bio-inspired robotic insects | Kevin Chen | TEDxMIT Salon
Insect-scale robots have unique superpower. We introduce a new class of small robots that resemble the size and functions of insects. The robots are driven by muscle-like soft actuators, and they can demonstrate impressive maneuvers such as acrobatic aerial somersault, light emission, in-flight collision recovery, and impulsive jumping on the water surface.
